Default steering issues. clunk and slight wandering/bumpsteer

I have some issues with my front suspension.

I have a clunking when you move the steering wheel back and forth, and when you go over bumps you can feel something is loose in the suspension. also, I have a minor wandering/bumpsteer issue. Im sure they are interrelated.

I changed out my stock shocks for Monroe monotubes, and I have a teraflex leveling kit. some of the chatter was from the links that had worn bushings. but I have factory back in and there is still something loose.

I have a few ideas I want to bounce off people.

1. track bar bushings?

2. Shock bushings?

3. Steering shaft?

4. tie rod ends?

5. Control arm bushings?

I have a "clunk" too on my '12 JKU. I just figured it was a Jeep thing. Is it not?

rather than jump around throwing new parts in all over the place and still not realy knowing best use the video steps to prevent wasting your time and money it could be any of above and maybe more than one / grade 8 bolt kit too might help if you havent already !

I had the same issue and determined the trackbar was loose. Easiest way to find the culprit is to have someone turn the wheel back and forth while your under the jeep. you should be able to determined whats making the noise.
Either way id still check the trackbar torque and make sure its at 125 ft lbs and its not a bad idea to replace the trackbar bolts with 9/16 3" grade 8 bolts

This could also be the famous clunk on the sector shaft I believe that's the right name. From steering wheel to steering box. A lot of jk have it and there are multiple threads on it. Mine has it.

Could also be one if the other things in your list. Also some of the other things could be causing your other issues. Follow plan mans video.

Do you think this would cause the wandering of my jeep?

Your issue is a loose track bar, I'm almost 100% certain. the clunk is the sudden shift of it under a bind. With it being loose it allows your axle to shift side to side making it have the wandering feel. The other clunking some have referred to this the 2 piece steering shaft that JK's have. There is no grease fitting so over time it will clunk, the mod for that is to simply drill a small hole in the outer shaft and tap it and install a grease zerk fitting so you can grease the splines. As said above have someone get in your jeep and turn from lock to lock left and right and watch the lower and upper track bar bolts, if there is ANY movement that's your culprit.

Im hoping that its just loose. I have 2 track bar bushings on order anyways. So when they come in, I will get them installed and torqued correctly!

re torque fixed it. I am installing an energy suspension master bushing set this spring however, to freshen up everything.
