Steering locking up
I am currnetly in Afghanistan and I had my wife take my 07 JK to have the new front PR 44 unlimited w/ RCV shafts, 5.38 gears, Pro Steer ball joint and ARB locker install along with the EVO Drag link Flip kit, I already had a rough country adj. Trac bar, extended brake line, ATX Slab wheels, 37X13.50R17 Nitto Mud Grapplers, TeraFlex Adj. LCA's and a Currie AntiRock Sway bar Kit. The problem is now the place installing the axle had issues with the steering locking up when they turn. So, we installed a PSC high volume power steering pump, new gear box and a new steering clock spring. That didn't fix the issue the steering is still sticking when it is turned. This is really getting expensive and I am looking for any kind of help here on what could be the problem.
If it's sticking then it sounds like something mechanical but without having a better description of the problem it's going to be hard to diagnose. How reputable is the shop working on your Jeep? It kind of sounds like they are taking advantage of your situation... I know a lot of Jeeps running on 37's without any issues with their stock steering. I have a hard time understanding the reasoning behind the decision to go hydro assist. I know this doesn't help your situation.
Sounds like you may have a problem with one of your upgrade parts not being compatible with the rest of your modifications. Sounds like you had several parts installed at once and then noticed the problem. You may have to go back to the configuration you had prior to the problem, and then add one part at a time to determine when/what is causing the problem. I agree that you shouldn't need to up the steering box and pump for 37's, but that alone should be the problem. Guessing it is possibly a geometry issue with your steering/suspension mods. Hard to pin point without seeing the Jeep itself.
Understand the frustration on being deployed and having to deal with stuff like this. Keep your focus on the task at hand while you are in the badlands, and there will be plenty of time to sort this out once you get back home.

Well I just talked to them and looks like the Drag link flip kit bracket from EVO is moving on the axle when the wheel is turned. They are talking with Offroad Evolution to see what needs to be done to fix this issue then they hope then can get the steering wheel to center and fix this issue. As far as the other parts, they got me some really good deals on them, some how the dealership took care of the steering box and then the PSC High volume pump only cost me $350.00 installed.
What size lift you running(on mobile)? I'm running 3.5" and did the Synergy drag flip and axle TB mount. I bought the RC adj TB and it was less than an inch from the sector shaft since it is barely angled forward unlike the stock TB. Fine for the street but would hit it flexing the slightest. Had to remove it and go back to stock, no problems since.
I have 4" EVO plush ride springs, TeraFlex front Adj LCA and on the front I have 1" TeraFlex coil spacers to make up for the front bumper and winch. I am Running Fox shocks. Then I have the EVO drag link flip kit and the Rough County adjustable trac bar.

So here is the new news. They beefed up the Drag link Flip kit bracket on the axle. Then they took it back to the alignment shop to do an alignment. They bring it back and it is still doing the same thing. I asked for a more detailed update on what it is doing and what they are saying now it is when the turn the steering wheel to the left or right it is not roatating on the ball joints properly. They said they talked to Mel at Offroad Evolution and he told them how to check if the Ball Joints are properly aligned, so they said they checked that and that was not the issued. Now they tell me the Traction control light is on, which it wasn't before. Now they are going to take it to a Dodge Dealership to look at it tomorrow. This is really starting to cost me way more than I expected. Does anyone have any suggestions on what this could possible be?
I have a bone stock JK and had the same problem after a bunch of front end axle and suspension parts were replaced after an accident. Mine was a faulty steering stabilizer. The replaced that and nary a problem since.
This may or may not be your issue though given the amount of mods done to your jeep....
