Default Steering not straight after Offroading !?!

Hello folks... well today was the first time i take my JK for a little offroading.... nothing serious just driving on sand and bumpy gravel road. When i got back on the street i had the ESP BAS solid on, traction control stayed lit and my steering wheel was not straight anymore. Later on the traction control switched off but the ESP BAS stayed lit.

Mind u the whole driving time was less than 45mins and nothing hardcore... no dune bashing no jumping nothing... Wots goin on here?

Thanx in advance

I had the same problem with mine the first time I took it off road. I traced my problem to the trac bar drop bracket. It was letting the hole axle shift to one side, therefore causing me to have to counter steer to drive straight and the ESP would consistently kick on.

Just to be safe, give your whole front suspension a look.

Could be tie rod, drag link, track bar, etc.

Check out project-jk for a write up on front end alignment

pretty typical after wheeling, your steering wheel will be off sometimes. Just follow the the write up and adjust the draglink.

my vote is on the drag link. if your steering wheel is straight. your tires should be straight.

if your steering wheel is straight. and your tires are not or if it is turning. check the drag link.

ten minuter.

Agreed, pretty common.

Sometimes after you re-align the steering wheel it takes a few minutes of driving, or a couple of off-and-ons for the ESP light to turn off. Don't panic if it doesn't turn off right away

Keep in mind, when this happens, it's not just a matter of adjusting it back. An inspection to find the cause is important.

Someone here found that the shaft was turning on the slipyolk at the firewall end due to the bolts not being tight enough.
