Default Steering question

I got a touch of death wobble only when I hit a bump. Steering stabilizer is shot. I have 2 1/2 " coil lift with 33s. Should I go with a $54 stablizer or like $80 one. Anyone run the dual stablizer. My lift has only been on for 4 months and I don't want to do this 2 or 3 times a year. Thanx for any help.

A stabilizer won't fix your problem.

Take a look at this (credit to Planman)

Tie-rod, drag link, track bar, ball joints, wheel bearings. These are the mostly likely culprit. One or more of them are shot.

Steering stabilizer has little to nothing to do with it.

Hope this helps.

Happy Jeeping.

My mechanic guy said my stabilizer is definitely shot just from taking a quick look at. He'll pull it on the hoist Saturday and do a full check. I can drive it without holding the sterling wheel and it runs completely straight whether I'm going 20 40 or 60 mph. Only happens when I hit bumps the steering wheel shimmies violently for a second or 2.

Your stabilizer is shot due to one of the components mentioned above being worn putting more pressure on your stabilizer causing it to fail prematurely. Any idiot can diagnose a busted stabilizer so tell your mechanic to do some work and look for the actual culprit or do it yourself

We are going to look at it Saturday when we have time. I do need a stabilizer regardless so any opinions on what's my best option.

You don't NEED a stabilizer. Many don't run one. I haven't for 3 years.

That said, a hydraulic one like the OEM version is fine and are cheap. No reason to spend more money than that.

Jeep goes in Tuesday to get all new steering components. I called my extra warranty company and they said it's all covered. Just have a $200 deductible , I would say it paid for itself.
