Steering stabilizer inadvertantly removed
1 Attachment(s)
Knocked my stabilizer off last night in a mudhole so I had to completely remove it. Is it ok to drive or is it essential?
|
I haven't had a stabilizer on in over a year. Running 35's and no issues.
|
I have already ordered a new one I mean just until it gets here. I'm stationed in Germany right now so that could be 2 to 4 weeks
|
Even off road and no issues?
|
nah .....if your suspension is dialed in correctly you won't even notice that it's missing.
|
Thanks for the info. It's brand new less than 3 k miles so it shouldn't be a problem.

Keep your thumbs out of the inside of the steering wheel as the wheel can move very fast if you hit something solid with one wheel while off-road. Just be aware the steering wheel can move faster than you expect and you will be OK until you replace the damper.

Hahaha thanks, I had that happen with an older silverado Steering wheel 1 thumb 0

You might want to consider the JeepSWAG.com steering relocation bracket. I just installed one (super easy). It causes the damper to be mounted on top of the tie rod instead of behind it. I think I have a pic of it...
Yep, here it is: the pic is taken from the passenger side looking towards the driver side. You can clearly see the bracket (stainless steel) and the tie rod end is just visible showing the damper on top now (I also got the heavy duty steering damper). http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/i...U/IMG_1264.jpg |
I just put the Jeep Swag relocation bracket on my 11' Rubi Unl. last weekend; not too hard; checked it several times; no noises; it seems to be working, though the clearance from that one bolt to the Bilstein stabilizer is a bit close.
Jeep Swag seems to be a pretty good outfit; I've always gotten whatever I've ordered very fast and the stuff is as advertised. |
