X2, Just put on a set of Ace rock sliders and they work great as a step as well, I added a piece of traction tape and we were good to go.

Look up Hanson's rock rail, they come with steps built in and are GREAT rock rails as well.

These are the same Smittybilt steps that were posted earlier. I find the clearance ok. The lower bars sit at about the same height as the frame. They're also frame mounted so they're pretty sturdy. The powder coat chips off pretty easily on the highway with rocks flying off them. I'm thinking of bedlining them.
