Default Still unsure between 35's or 37's...

So im hopefully going to start building up my jeep shortly and am having trouble deciding between 35's and 37's... I'll be going with the Cooper Discoverer STT's (had those on my truck and thought they were great) so its a 12.50 wide tire either way and just for reference my wheels are 8" wide .

I'm definitely going with the 4" rough country lift and a 1" body lift either way it's just tire size i'm having trouble with.

I know 35's would be a littleeeee more practical/easier on the jeep, butttt my truck that I traded in to get the jeep I had 37's on it and i'm sure most of y'all feel the same way that once you go up to a certain tire size coming back down is much harder...

With 37's my two main concerns are that with the 4" rough country and 1" body it still might be a little tight of a fit? I know i've seen people on here running 37's with just a 4" lift but i'm not sure of the true height of the rough country kit compared to others even with that extra inch of body lift.

The other main concern is the weight in the back. If i go up to 37's i'm definitely going to get a new bumper with a tire carrier and i'm concerned that with the extra weight of the bumper, tire carrier and a 37" tire, that the back end of my jeep will sag a lot...

any advice/input?

I'm running an RE 4.5" and I started with 35's only to move up to 37's anyway. You should have plenty of room with the 1" body lift. You'll have to trim the pinch seam in front of the rear tires, but that's not a big deal. I don't know what gears you have (or are planning to get), but If you're not going to go with at least a 4:10, I'd stay with the 35's.

I added Shrockworks bumpers front and rear, and the front with winch caused sag, and the stubby rear with 37" spare caused sag as well. I cured both issues by replacing the stock spring isolators with Daystar's 1 3/4" BB spacers. Sag issues solved and a tad more lift to boot!

No rub!!

I noticed in your profile you have a 4 dr. I've got a 4 dr with the RE 3.5" lift and 35's. The more time I spend off road with the 4dr the more convinced I am that the best tire size is 37". 35's are fine on a 2 dr but the longer wheelbase of the 4 dr argues for the 37's. I doubt I'll even wait until the 35's are worn much more. I'll probably make somebody a deal on them and move to the 37's.

The STT's will be ok if you're not in a rocky area. I'm on my fourth set on my work truck they are a pretty damn good tire and are very quiet on the road. However I've cut two of the sidewalls in situations where it shouldn't have happened. I didn't put them on my JK.

You didn't mention it but whether you go 35 or 37 you'll need to regear.

If youa re even considering 37's over 35's then don't waste your time with the 35's. Ask me how I know! Go 37's all the way!

If you in fact have an unlimited I say go with the 37's for sure. You may not even need that body lift. Running 37x12.5x18's with a 4" suspension lift, no body lift, trimmed fenders and I don't rub.

IMO I like 35"s on 2-doors, 37"s on 4-doors

All right well yall definitely helped me make up my mind 37's definitely seem the way to go on my unlimited.

I have been looking around at as many photos as possible and it really looks like the 35's should be stock on an unlimited they really don't look oversized or too big at all.

I had seen posts about triming that pinch weld but never realized exactly what you were talking about untill I went out and looked at my jeep, wow that definitely looks like it should be trimmed down. Looks like a pretty easy part to cut off isn't it? I think I saw a how to post on here somewhere, maybe ill find that.
