besides the cool look what is the function of a stinger loop on the front bumber?

It prevents forward rollovers.

yep JKjunkie2009 hit the nail on the head.

It reduces the chance of a frontal roll over. To say it prevents it is not quite accurate.

Rolly polly over end is what it is supposed to prevent. Other than that, it looks bad ass on a Jeep!!
