Default Stinger question

First off, I am new and don't know. What is a stinger hoop for and should a novice get one?

Should have one? What type of wheeling? Do you need that kind of grill protection?

From what I've seen of them in action, it prevents the Jeep from going forward end-over-end.

Wow, that was close.
Notice the driver doesn't move after the Jeep stops? He's completing his evacuation, and I don't mean getting out of the Jeep.

Also in the event of a roll over it also helps to keep the radiator area from getting smashed keeping the vehicle drivable after its back upright.

I choose to go with a stinger for 3 main reasons:

1. See above
2. On road protection, being so far from the grille it keeps things way out in front, deer come to mind.
3. I like the way they look (obviously to me choice 2 was more important, but this helped push me towards one).

4. Prius motivator.

Added benefit I did not expect - Gives you a great idea of dead center on the front, makes placing your tire on that exact rock you want just a little easier.

Negative's to a stinger

1. Makes turning in tight spots a tiny bit harder (still tighter radius than a JKU for me)
2. The looks, some are just ugly to me. Plus I think it suits a certain type of jeep.
3. makes going under the hood a bit more difficult, but you do get used to it.

Default Thanks

Thanks all, I think I'm going with one. For the most part I will be starting off mild on the wheeling, however, as my wife will confirm, I get consumed with my hobbies.

Well you got me. That is what will happen. Give me a week and it will be my next day off project.
