Stock Shock Mounts - Upgradeable?
I think Rock Krawler makes some, but I have no idea were to get them from, so....
I just spent about 4 hours with my dad and brother today...
I cut off the shock mounts from the control arm bracket,
then moved them up 1 1/2" while my brother welded them up.
Then I cut off the rest of the lower control arm bracket that was hanging below.
So I gained 1 1/2" of ground clearance and rear axle droop will be improved too!
Everyone says, the brackets are close enough to the wheel that it should be a problem, but mine were pretty bashed up before I cut them off
Before I did this though, I checked to make sure my shocks would not bottom out.
I put the Jeep on an RTI ramp, got the tire stuffed with the axle on the bump stop, and I still had 2" of shock shaft showing
While we were at it, I also added in some gussets to the rear track bar bracket
