Default Stock Tire Replacement with Duratracs

Something that I have been thinking about lately may make the tire replacement decision for those of us who want Duratracs with 17" wheels much easier. So according to specs on tirerack the stock 255/75/R17 (height = 32.1") tires are taller than 265/70/R17 tires (height = 31.7"). But when I go out and measure the stock spare tire on the Jeep the diameter of the stock 255/75/17 SR-As is only between 30.5 and 31" (I actually recently saw a post showing that many people have this going on but can't find it at the moment).

So if I replace the stock tires with the 265/70/17 tires will this effectively increase the tire height a tiny bit over stock (from the measured ~30.5" SR-A to ~31.7 spec 265/70/17 Duratrac)? Or will the 265/70/17 tires have the same difference in size between "spec" and real O.D.?

If people can go out and measure 265/70/17 Duratracs on stock 17" wheels it would really help the process of figuring this out.

Thanks in advance!

My dad has the 265/70R17 BFG all terrains on his Jeep. The height looks about the same maybe a TINY bit taller, but the tire looks beefier and wider. No rubbing on a 100% stock suspension.

Typically, 32.8". 33x12.50-17 also measure 32.8".

265/70-17 generally measure 31.7", as does the Duratrac in this size.
