Question Stock vs. Aftermarket

Everywhere I look on here I see aftermarket rims. Besides for the looks, is there any reason I can't run 35's on my stock 17's? Any Performance gain with certain rims?? Thanks!

I think the biggest problem is that the stock rims have 6.5" of backspacing. If you put larger and wider tires on them they will rub on all kinds of things. Most after market rims have less backspacing making it less likely to rub. A lot of people use 1.5" wheel spacers instead of new wheels to meet their backspacing needs.

back spacing

look more unique

seize

it's cheaper to buy 5 aftermarket 16in wheels with tire than buying 5 18in tires

X5, backspacing is the big issue. I have Spidertrax's but would prefer to have new wheels.
