Default Storage box?

So, I'm getting my new bumper and KC fogs put on, and while they have it in the shop (no, I don't know how, nor do I have the tools, to do it myself) they are going to unbolt the backseat for me so I can take it out.

I know they make locking storage boxes for pick-ups. Do they have such a thing for JK's? I want something I can store my tow rope, some tools, my emergency roadside kit, flashlight, first aid, etc. All stuff I always keep with me, but I want to lock it up, so if I park somewhere with top and doors off, my stuff will be a little more secure.

It'd be nice to find one that attaches to the Jeep, but it isn't a necessity. I just want something what is lockable and won't slide all over the place... so yeah, maybe attachment to the vehicle is necessary... LOL.

Thanks!

This is for the Unlimited, I have it, was really easy to install, they have versions for the 2dr as well. Locks nice and tight, but not water proof.

I hope they aren't charging you to unbolt the backseat.

How much in labor are they charging for the rest?

It is made to fit in the 2dr with the rear seat out as well they also make a smaller one that fits behind the seat in the 2dr

What happen did you get caught with the top down and get water in the drawer? I've been caught in rain a few times but didnt get water in mine but it didnt rain on it for long, soft top goes up pretty fast

I don't know if they're charging for the back seat or not. To be honest, I don't really care either way. They can do it, I can't... if I had a garage, I might be tempted to take it out myself, but I don't.

I know they're charging 60/hour for labor, which is really not bad. They said to replace the bumper and install the fogs, about 3-4 hours. Around here, I've seen places charge upward of 120/hour. That's usually the stealerships though.

The place I'm having it done specializes in Jeep mods and repairs, so I know my baby will be in good hands. I'm going to a shop called "Endangered Species".

Thanks for the help on the boxes. I was hoping they might be waterproof... but, I will take what I can get!

Hmmm... so, I've looked at the various boxes, but I was hoping for something more along the lines of what they use in a truck.

Something that locks from the top, and doesn't take up the whole back of the Jeep. Yes, it is also my "mall crawler"... LOL. When I go shopping, Id' like to be able to throw shopping/grocery bags in the back, or even other stuff.

Not trying to be intentionally obtuse, but I have a picture in my mind's eye of what I'm looking for. I just don't know if it exists for a Jeep...

I used a Rubbermaid Action Packer. Tough enough to sit on. I lock the 2 latches, and have two 9" bungies holding the latches to the cargo hooks. With the seats up, the action packer is held firmly against the back of the seat... it does NOT move.

I looked around and thought of custom-building something, but settled on this. I like it.

Hey JKKAT where'd your rear licence plate go??
BTW I've got that same box. I cut 2 rectangle holes in the bottom of the box where the rear seat WAS
(those 2 welded-on loops where the seat attached), sat the box over them and wedged a
steel bar thru the loops from the inside of the box. Removable but difficult to steal.

Thats the one I got (see, its in my sig and everything)

Love it, even if its on the expensive side... but a great product.

One thing with it though... if you got lots of stuff in the drawer, you'll hear a popping sound when you accelerate quickly... long story short, the latch is in the middle, and it makes a popping sound as the top flexes a bit. I hardly notice, but passengers seem to question it
