what are the pro's/con's of a stubby front bumper?

Pro's look bad ass, and approach angle is increased by a ton.
Con's if you get hit more likely that there will be more to fix=more money, and just the safety of getting hit, I'd rather have someone have to go through a bumper, instead of just a wheel and then me.
My truck just got hit and I noticed how bad the damage could have been if I had a trophy truck style bumper on which doesn't protect the wheels.
I would go for a stubby if my Jeep was only a weekend toy.

Much less expensive. No rubbing. Less weight. Looks better.

Some states/areas have bumper width laws...

Pros - looks sick/bad ass(see above post), less chance of rubbing at full flex, winch mount, d-rings provide better recovery point, higher re-sale value

Cons - they're heavy & sometimes cause front end to sag/rake(a lot of drivers install spacers to fix this), no gap to absorb collision(like crush cans on stock).

The factory bumper isn't exactly going to protect much in a frontal impact since the impact bar is as long as a stubby bumper.
