Default Stupid question

Well, here I am again asking questions. I wanted to get started putting on my 2.5 lift, and the instructions state you have to put the unit on two jack stands so you can get enough room to drop the axles to remove the old springs. I looked for a spot to put my stands and am not sure where to place them. If I put them on the frame behind the front wheel, I cann get them high enought to allow the axel to drop that far it seems.
I don't know where anyone else placed theirs who have installed this kit in their garage. I have the 2.5 Rough Country coils and shocks. Any help will be greatly appreciated...

your need to locate your jack stands under the frame rails just behind the control arm mounts. if your stands are too short, you need to get taller ones or you need to stack up some 2x4's or bigger jenga style to build up a base.

this write-up should help you out:

I just installed this lift last Friday! I didnt stack stuff up really high, felt uncomfortable doing that. I just jacked up the front axle to where I could get the jack stands under the frame rail behind the control arm mount at almost full extension. Then, I loosened the lug nuts while the tires were touching ground. Lift the axle up again so you can get the wheels off, and lower the axle. You'll have enough room to drop the axle without the brakes touching, but wont have to stack a bunch of wood or do anything dangerous. Just make sure you extend the jack stands out almost the full height. (I did one notch below full height for stability). Make sense?

When I did mine (same lift your doing), my jackstands, are usable to 21" height.. that worked for me with a few inches to spare..

As long as yours are close to 21" id say 19" min. you will be fine.

My jack stands were about 2 inches too short to remove the wheels on my JK when I replaced the springs. So I put the jack stand in place under the frame and used my jack to raise high enough to remove the wheel ... then I lowered it onto the jack stand. Still had plenty of room to lower the axle and replace the springs.

Once again I thank all those who responded to my questions. I at least was right on what I thought the control arms were. It appears I need a larger floor jack than the one I have to do the job easier. Thanks again for all you help..

I ended up using the short stands that I had, I just had to jack the axle up and remove the wheels before I could let things rest on the stands. Once I had the wheels off I could use the stands I had. It just added more time to my lift install because of inconveinence.

Yah, Jack it up by the axle as high as a regular jack gets you then take tires off then lower all the way on the jack stands.

Hope the pictures helped.
