Default Suggestions for tire size

So this is my 3rd Jeep, but first JK. Last Jeep I had was a TJ that I threw a 4" lift and 33x12.50 MT's on it.

I'm reading it's possible to have a 33" on a stock JK. So here's my question, I have a 3.5" Rubicon Express lift on the way. It's on backorder though. Trying to decide on tires before it gets here so I have everything ready to go.

We were thinking 35x12.50's, but I'm wondering if a 33" would be sufficient. We're not going to be going quite as rough with this one as I did with my TJ seeing as how we'll have kids along for the ride nowadays. Would a 33" be too small with that lift? What do you guys think? I've already decided to go with a 15x8 rim to save on tire cost and 8" wide to avoid losing a bead when we air down. The tires on the other hand I'm having trouble deciding as I just don't see a lot of lifted Jeeps around here to really get a gauge on what I like and what I don't.

Also I've always used the BFG MT's. But I was looking at the Pro Comp Radial MT's and they look like the tread pattern is quite similar with a lower cost per tire. Anyone have an opinion on how these wear? We live in AZ so unfortunately tires have about half the normal life of a tire here due to the freaking rough hot roads just literally eating them away. Hence cost is becoming a larger factor for me than my 2 Jeeps in the past were.

IMO, w/a 3.5" lift it will look better w/35's, but you have all the other factors to consider. Can the kids get in it w/3.5" & 35's, cost of tires/ etc?

They're only 4 so I'm lifting them in regardless. The cost is going to be more with a 35" but I'm also wondering if 33" would just plain look to small. I'm leaning toward a 35" for that reason, but figured it wouldn't hurt to see if anyone has tried the 33" with this setup and see what they thought.

This JK is turning out to have quite a few differences from my YJ and my TJ. So I'm sort of having to learn all the tricks all over again. IE: This Jeep chick is feeling a bit out of place. lol

Way to much lift for 33's. I have 33's with an 1-1/2 leveling kit. Just right, no rubbing off-road.

Is that stock wheels. Looking to go to 33x12.5x17 ( whatever retarded tire size that comes out to be) on my 2012 sport. Wondering if I need leveling kit and spacers

33's would look a bit small, I'm running a 3" Teraflex lift with 35's. I have 2 small kids, no trouble getting them in/out. I would say go 35, they will just fill out the wheel wells that much better.

No. I went with AEV Pintlers, but using an 1-1/2 wheel spacer will work. I put on KM 2 285-70-17.
