Default Superchip Flashpaq vs. AEV Procal

So I have been reaidng JPop's review from last April and all the subsequent posts about the Flashpaq and it made me wonder...what is the difference then between the SuperChip Flashpaq and the AEV Procal? Aren't they both tuners? Does anyone have any updated info on the Superchip?

The Flashpaq is a programmer and the Procal is a calibration tool. No performance upgrades with a Procal, but a great tool if you just want to get your speedo right after a tire upgrade.

That was the one about the lurching throttle? Have you had any experience with that? Just curious and am itching to do something to my JK!

The throttle response is vastly improved by the Flashpaq performance tunes. This means that you when step on the pedal something actually happens in this lifetime.

Several owners particularly those with 6-spds complain that it is too sensitive (high modulation) in some throttle sensitive off road conditions. I believe Superchips replied that they be able provide a dual solution in the future.

I kept my Procal which I bought first and I still have it because it has some minimal functionality not available on the Flashpaq, but the Flashpaq is worth every penny.

I was reading the article in JP magazine today where they compared tuners/programmers/chips, they said they saw performance and mpg improvements with each of the units they compared.....even the procal...is that right?

Read JPop's perfect description above of the Procal and Flashpaq.

The Procal is not a performance tuner. Any performance gains from it are just a byproduct of the correctly setting parameters such as tire size, gear ratio, etc.

One thing that was not clear in JPop's review was the high octane tune...must you use high octane gas with that tune? Baiscally I want to be able to squaeeze out as much power from my engine as possible, but am not interested in super-expensive gas!
