Default Superchips 93

Out here in Colorado the highest octane at the pump is 91 which is pretty much equivalent to 93 due to high altitude. My question is has anyone living in high altitude and only having 91 available run the 93 octane tune with superchips?

Thanks.

Same here in Utah, highest is 91. I just run the tune for that one and it works great. I haven't ran the 93 tune. I get better mpg with 91, but I like the way the jeep runs with the 87 here. So, I go with 91 for the mileage.

You will likely get detonation running that tune with a lower octane fuel. I wouldn't do it. Ask me how I know..

I run the 93 tune with 91 gas. Haven't had a problem with it. I did a lot of reading before I did it. With higher altitude 93 wouldn't work as well

Doesnt sound good, but at the same time TN doesn't sit very high. On the other hand Evo has had no issues cause he too is in Denver. I guess each vehicle handles it differently. I have been pleased with the 87 tune but just switched to 91 but have not been able to give it a rip due to the snow on the ground dde23 Sent from my iPad using JK-Forum

It all has to do with the density of the air at different elevations. I wouldn't try a tune on lower octane gas at sea level, but in denver things are adjusted for thinner air

I got a flashpaq for xmas and ran different tunes for MPG's. I live in AZ now and there is no 93 here either. The 87 tune netted me 18.1 MPG's on mostly highway driving. The 91 tune netted 18.4 MPG's on the same trips. Just for good measure I ran 91 octane on an 87 tune with the same trips and got 17.6 MPG's. I would save my money and run the 87 tune because the gains are so minimal it's not worth the extra cost of prem gas price. Just my .02
