Superchips Flashpaq 3872 issues- partial solutions
It has definitely not been a turn key process. I am hopeful that my issue and configuration will be fixed.
I understand that Superchips has good customer service and will give them time to do their job, they are also not available outside of regular business hours.
My current problem is that i need Superchips to create a custom configuration, but it took a lot of trouble shooting to get to this point!
Perhaps my troubleshooting may help others.
1) Purchased a new Flashpaq on Black Friday Sale
2) Plugged it into my 2008 JK and received an error that configuration not available
3) Proceeded to "Try" to hook the device up to sparks and no initial luck.
4) googled other threads to get some help- found no perfect fx thread
Here are my learning points and what worked for me:
Windows 7 would not recognize the flashpaq or find the correct windows driver.
Spark software would turn on but that was it- no connection to the device
-made sure windows updates were current- no go
-made sure no firewall or antivirus on to interfere- no go
-Tried to manually install the driver, installed but still, no go as the driver not digitally signed by windows and a - no go (but solving this is ultimately the fix with tweaks)
The fix to get the flashpaq to be recognized, driver installed and to talk with spark:
1) put on my computer geek hat
2) uninstall any of the drivers you have installed- (skip if you didn't manually already try to install drivers)
- windows uninstall programs- uninstall powerteq driver
- reboot
3) circumvent windows digital signature driver (makes sure that the driver is valid....) causing my driver install problem
4) googled directions for "disable digital signature in windows 7, 64 bit" (windows 8, 10 etc) Disable Digital Signature in Windows 7, 64 bit
-Go to Start Menu and type "cmd.exe" in the Search Bar and press <Enter>. (Remember you must be logged on as Administrator)
OR you can go to "All Programs", then "Accessories", right-click on "Command Prompt" and choose "Run as administrator".
A. Now type the following and press <Enter> after each line:
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON
B. Restart your computer
C. This will disable your Windows 7 driver signing.
5.) go to the folder where sparks is installed: It will be under c: program files or program files (x86)\spark
6.) click on dpinst.exe (this installs the two needed usb drivers) you will get one or two prompts- not recognized do you want to proceed? yes for both.
7.) plug in the flashpaq usb to your computer- it will try to search windows updates- cancel that and pick the bottom option of manually installing- or you can just wait for it to give you the error that it wasn't installed. Leave flashpaq plugged in.
8.) Go to either devices and printers and right click on the superchips device or go to windows device menu and right click on superchips (yellow error flag)
9.) click properties, drivers and then click update drivers
10.) click on browse for driver on my computer
11.) on left sided menu pick powerpaq
12.) after clicking, the right side should populate with powerpaq, click on it and the driver will install. If you get an error 52, device driver not windows digitally signed- (my initial problem, uninstall driver, reboot and start again, may need alternative way to turn off windows digital signature, google will be your friend)
13.) unplug the flashpaq
14.) double click on the spark to start it.
15.) plug in flashpaq when prompted
16.) Yeah!!! it is talking and updating and should be smooth sailing from here. (unless your jeep is mine and has a unique configuration)
after step 16, mine updated like it should, downloaded all new content and then ended with a notice, that "we do not currently have a configuration for your vehicle" please enter your email address and we will email you when your configuration is ready. May take up to 2 weeks. :-)
I will wait for my configuration and post an update when it arrives. Forgive any name misspellings above as this is from my memory of the 5 hours of problem solving to get the unit to communicate.
My hope is that the above info may help someone that is working on a weekend or over the holidays (do you guys skip work to get to work on your jeep and use customer service?
) to get their programer going that won't communicate with their computer.

Their customer service has been closed since the time i have been able to "use" it. Will find out this week during normal business hours if my schedules allows me call. No formal email response/ auto response from spark software regarding my custom tune.
There is a Superchips forum as well. May get answers there.
Thanks, Didn't find what i need. Still waiting... I have not been able to call during 8-5. I have tried emailing support and waiting for a response. Interesting that their website says support is 8am-to8pm. That is unless you call and then you get a: please call back during regular business hours of m-f 8am to 5pm
