Default Superchips flashpaq question

I have the superchips flashpaq currently running the 87 octane with 33" wheel setup. I am very pleased with the results. My question is, is it worth buying premium gas to run the '93 octane setup? Other than my BFG 33's, my jeep is pretty much stock. Thanks in advance for replies.

Just curious, how do you like the superchips? Also did you notice any gains. I was not thinking and got an auto unlimited. On a good day of mixed driving I average around 14.4 running 285/65/R18's. I am thinking of going superchips and want to make sure its a good investment.

I know that drivability is dramatically improved. When I put the larger tires on, I was regretting it because it seemed that the damn thing just couldn't keep up. Constant downshifts, high RPMs, etc. It was miserable to drive it on the highway. That was remedied with the superchips. Too soon to tell on the MPG yet (just did it yesterday), but I can only imagine that with it running better, MPG will also improve. I will have to fill up soon, and I can update then.

My only beef with it so far, though, is that the internet update program isn't Mac compatible. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

If you run Windows as a virtual machine in either Parallels or Fusion, you can do the updates.

It's going to be personal preference. I personally like the 93 tune. Some people don't see enough of a benefit to justify the additional cost.

By why take someone else's opinion on it? Try it yourself.

If you are going to do the 93 tune, I suggest you run one full tank of 93 on the 87 tune through before you switch to the 93 tune. That's because even when your tank reads empty there are a few gallons of 87 octane left in there. Then when you mix in the 93 you are probably going to end up with something like 91 octane on that first tankful.

Let us know what you think about it.

14.4 MPG!!! Is that your own computation or the Jeeps computer? I'm running 285/75/16 BFG KM2s with a Flashpaq in 93 octane tune and a bunch of other stuff(see sig) and I get 18.5-18.9MPG reading on my dash.

Played with the 87 tune, 91 tune, tow tune and finally settled on the 93 tune. Was most comfortable to me with my driving style. I would never go without a Flashpaq now. Even my wife hated the stock no go pedal. Good investment. $295 @ Northridge though the price has gone up recently.

I got mine a few days ago in preparation for spedo recalibration which will be required after lift and 37" install this eve. hehe. I am running the 87 tune. I just looked at my dash MPG driving the other day and it was 18.4 in town. it used to read ~16 or so in town. I havent done any highway driving yet. And there is a noticeable little pep in the throttle response. Very pleased for the amount of money and lack of effort required.

Now a minor beef. I updated the tuner with the add on TPMS option. I downloaded the one to "change" the setting. However, I didnt realize until after I did that, that I can either have the "change TPMS" option or the "disable TPMS", not both at the same time. I don't have sensors in my new wheels so I need it disabled. I tried re-upgrading the unit, but seems like it doesn't take. I haven't taken the time to call tech supoprt yet.

The gas is usually .10 per gallon more - so it's not a money issue at $1.60 per fill up. I didn't notice any difference - but I drive mine like a Porsche anyway. I get around 20 mpg in the summer months and around 18 in the winter.

I have the flashpaq, and I started out with the 87 tune, then decided to try the 91 tune just for fun, and now I won't go back. My question is, where do you get 93 octane? I've only ever seen 91 octane as the highest available at the gas stations by me

92 is the highest I have seen at stations near me. Some I hear have 93, but I would have to find them. I may just do the 91 tune because of gas options. Not cool being out of gas and limited on supply choices.
