Default Superchips idle control

I just got my Superchips flashpaq and was playing with the idle control feature to use with my winch. The instructions are minimal but I am trying to figure out how people use it. If you shut the vehicle off, plug it in to let it talk, turn the key to on, etc. it takes about 2 minutes just to get to the point where you can start the vehicle and adjust the idle. What a pain. Am I missing something? Can I just leave it plugged in when I go wheeling? Can I just plug it in while the vehicle is running to use the "real time" features such as this and 4Hi lock?

without having the instructions in front of me, I could be wrong, but i think for this and the locking in 4 hi function, you just plug it in while vehicle is already running and you get to that menu alot faster.

Yep, just plug it in while the vehicle is running. It won't hold if unplugged, but while your running and making adjustments it's all good on the idle adjustments.

Thanks for the response.

I plugged it in while running and it still goes through its initialization for about a minute. When I selected advanced it said turn key to on but do not start so I ignored it and clicked OK since it was already running. So I figure this part could happen while I am starting the trail so it doesn't impact me other than the tuner bouncing around everywhere on the floor.

But when I selected the idle control from there it says initializing so that took another minute. So even if it is running and selecting idle control from the menu already up it takes a full minute to get to the screen to advance the idle. Then if you want to use the 4Hi locker option it also takes a minute from the advanced menu to initialize. Don't think I will be using those features very often.

exactly, that's why I'm glad I got my SC for other reasons, not for 4hi locker and idle adjustment, just takes too much time to initiate and have another cord dangling around while wheeling or winching.

I got it mainly for the TPMS disable. I got new rims for the 35s and don't want to put the sensors in. I broke two off this summer and they want $70 a piece for them. I bought one, left the spare on the ground and had them put a rubber stem in the other one for a spare. For that alone I figured it would pay for itself.

The tuner option will be good because I don't plan on re-gearing at this point. 4.10s with the 35s should be livable since the stock Rubicon tires were 32s. Especially on a 2-door which is probably a thousand pounds lighter than the 4-doors. I know they didn't measure 32 actual, but neither will the 35s. I had an F-150 with 35s and 3.73s and it wasn't bad with more power.

Why do you want to idle up while wheeling? I prefer throttle control when I'm driving. The only time I have it idled up is when winching.

I'd prefer to have a slight throttle bump as 800 rpm is often a little tough, presenting the need for a third foot or use of the hand brake.

I want it idled up for winching or for running the electric air compressor. The compressor runs much faster when idled up and the winching works better as well with more power.

The tuner also has the ability to use the rear locker in 4Hi which would be great for sand. 4lo on the Rubicon is too low for running in sand but you can only use the factory lockers in 4lo. But to use the locker feature it has to plugged stay plugged in to stay locked.

I tried to adjust my idle up and it said "Only for cummins trucks"

It said that for both the idle up and the idle setting. Am I missing something?
