Superchips: Tension Headache Tune
Well... I finally got my Superchips today after a week of hearing "oh it didn't arrive today but it should be in tomorrows truck".
Sooo, I get home and I'm stoked to get it plugged into the net and updated. I go to the Superchips website and register (like I figure I'm suppose to
).
I then download the update software, plug in my Superchip and start the update software. It downloads three updates then asks me to log in. I try to log in using the account I just created and I'm told my user name is invalid...

So I try a couple more times to log in and nothing. So there is an option to register in the same sign in window and I figure what the heck. So I register and create a new account using the exact same info and user name I used when I registered earlier. For whatever reason it allows me to create this "second" new account using the same info.
I try to sign in and I'm told I need to verify my account and will receive an email shortly...waiting...waiting....waiting...finally get an email.
So now that I've opened the email and verified my account I try to sign in again...invalid password
...I try to sign in a few times and BAM, I'm locked out cause I tried to log in too many times
...yup I'm now officially swearing out loud.
So I'm told that I can click to reset my password
which I do and then I wait for another email that is supposed to give me a temporary password...waiting....waiting...waiting...waiting. ..finally arrives. I open the email and get the new temp password and paste it into the sign in window and hit enter. BAM! I'm in
. By this time I feel like I just picked the lock on a bank vault
.
Ok, so I'm in and I change my password which still seems to be working. So I update the Superchip which takes about 10 minutes then I'm directed to the add on section of the program where I can download the tire pressure sensor shut off and the data logging program.
So I click on the programs and download them. It seems to work, I disconnect the Superchip and go out the garage to play
.
Before I go any further I remove the changes previously made by my AEV Procal and return the JK to stock.
I plug in the Superchip, set the tire size, add the 87 Octane tune and then try and shut off the TPMS...the TPMS shut off program didn't download onto the Superchip but the data logging program did...
I'm not even surprised at this point. Sooo back into the house and plug the Superchip back into the PC, start the update program and download just the TPMS shut off and do nothing else cause I'm quickly learning that the software is fickle to say the least.
Ok, TPMS program added and back out to the garage, plugged in and TPMS shut off.
FINALLY!!!!

I'm ready to go for a drive.
WOWWWW!!! (drool) I am impressed at the responsiveness of the skinny peddle. The JK isn't laying rubber but you can tell there is added power/torque especially noticeable under 2500 RPM. It feels the way the JK should have felt of the lot. I drove around for about 45 minutes and am very impressed.
I have a six speed and starting out in first no longer has a labored feeling to it. I usually drive about 70-80 km/hr in fourth gear around town at about 2000-2400 RPM and fourth which usually feels a little sluggish/ labored as well but now it feels fine.
So far I'm very impressed with the results but what a piss off it was getting to those results. Superchips brags about being the best at programming vehicles for 20plus years but after tonights experiences I think they should put a little more effort into making their computer software a bit more reliable.
But I'd like to add once again that after all the headaches I am very impressed with the actual results seen immediately after installing the tune. I would highly recommend that every JK owner go out and pick one up regardless if your rig is stock or modified.

I had a similar experience with the web software, but i am persistent. Three hours later i finally win against the security of superchips and am rewarded with the latest version. Ah if only my bank records and social security numbers were as secure as this damn update.
I will say that during the tuning process i was alarmed to see my dash say "no bus" on the odometer, but it.turned out that it is normal and not to panic.
The 87 tune with the top speed restrictor changed to 140mph i am good to go, especially if im running from the cops again! Now just need to make the motor actually go that fast........
Definitly more responsive and peppie, i was not overwhelmed with the power but certainly pleased with the boost. I will monitor the mpg changes after a few tanks and see the final improvement soon.

I have yet to get one but plan to and also have read a bunch of the "update" headache posts. I do however also seem to remember a superchips rep somewhere around here that seemed to respond quite well to requests for support and such?
I had a similar problem trying to update one night. I could not get through. The next morning, I tried one more time before calling them and it went through with no problems. I figure the software program belongs to "International Order of Software Programs" union and was on break or had gone home after putting in its 8 hour day.

Ha. Thanks Bill. Yeah the list is getting longer.
On another note my wife is liking the power gain from the superchip but I've noticed it's a bit jerky in 1st and a little in 2nd while driving slow.
