I thought I had read somewhere that you shouldn't tow anything on the 87 performance tune..... Is that correct? I have a 1700LB boat that I pull on occasion and I'd rather not change the tune if I dont neet to....

I'm more than happy to install 91 octane gas, so would I be able to tow while using the 91 Performance tune?

Right now I am running the tow tune with 91 octane, not sure if this is the best or not.

I have 35's with 5.13 gears - 4DR automatic.

Thoughts?

 

U should b fine weight is more important than the tune per say

 

I towed a 3000lb trailer 600 miles on the 87 tune. Everything went fine except my mileage.

 

Just turn of the O/D and away you go. I've tried the tow tune on my boat, it wasn't worth the time to change it from 87. I reluctantly towed my gear loaded Jeep with a uhaul trailer with a total load weight of 3,860lbs (trailer was 3,140lbs) on 87 tune, no issues. mostly flat running from Va Beach to Fayetteville. (I used truck scales to weigh it out for DITY move reimbursement)

 

You guys are aware that w/ the Towing Mode you have to use 91 Octane -

Also, the manual reads no towing with the 87 Mode.

If you are running the Towing mode and using 87 Octane you will eventually get pinging and could damage your engine.
