Default Superchips tuner results with a 6-speed?

So I am under the impression from most of the threads I read, that the better tuners really make the most difference on Automatic vehicles. I need to get some sort of tuner or the AEV procal as I have had 37's for almost 2 years and still havent updated any of the computer info for them. I am also regearing this xmas break, so once I do that I know I'm going to need to update the ratio, but is it worth it to spend the extra for the superchips? Is it really going to improve my performance that much with a 6 speed? Let me know if you have any thoughts or first hand experience

Aev Procal will update your tire and gear ratio so I would definitely get that at a minimum. The superchips flashpaq will do the same but also offers performance tunes.and a idle setting to help with winching.

I have a manual and have been considering a SC flashpaq and also wonder how much benefit id see.

Hope that helps

This will all depend on what your looking for. Seat of the pants, it will feel a bit quicker but it will depend on your gearing. The lower the gear the more you will notice a difference. You will absolutely see a mpg gain if your easy on the skinny.
I currently have an AEV ProCal on my 13 JKU 6spd, and will be getting a Diablo tuner soo. I had a Superchips on my 07 2dr auto with 4.10s and 35s. I wouldn't hesitate for the tuner.

Keep in mind that the Diablo will allow for custom tuning down the road if you ever want it. I.E. A Dyno tune.

Honestly, im a slow driver now, I know ill get terrible milage no matter what I have accepted that hence the 37's, but if you'e saying I will def see a MPG increase, well then that right there is worth it enough fro me to spend the extra 100 or so on a superchips. I dont care so much about power, thats what im getting hte gears for, I just want driveability back, im not expecting it to be fast

There is another thread of manual owners and SC but I can't find it....go figure.

That being said, I've got a manual and the flashpaq and i wouldn't have it any other way. It took all of the lag out of my pedal and there is a 'power' difference that you'll notice.

In addition to the tunes you can adjust the computer for tire size, gear ratio, and adjust your TPMS. The tunes are decent- the econ tune is a joke because it retards the pedal to maximize economy. The tow tune gives the most grunt when you get on it and the two 'performance' tunes are more all-around tunes. Of the two, superchips says that the perf 87 will boost your mileage and give you power (decent pedal response too). You've got 37's so the "off-road" tune may interest you, it steadys the gas pedal where it would otherwise be jerky. It's one of those where you've got to try it.

I DD mine, so I ran tow tune for the longest time but recently went to the perf 87. The tow is a stronger tune but I get 'slightly' better mileage on the perf 87.

It's more expensive because it's a little more customizable. Like if you ever want to supercharge or put on a CAI, a dyno tune will get you more reliable horsepower. If you just want a canned tune and won't be adding any performance mods then Super chips is perfectly fine. Although superchips did add a catback and cai option on the new tuners.

I have the Superchips with 37's a six speed and factory 4.10 gears. I am happy with the results. I get 14-16 city and about 20 highway (at 65mph). I can feel a difference when I tow my popup camper. I also like the idle up feature when winching. Hope this helps.

I would always suggest using an actual tuner. A flash device like a ProCal is great if you can get one for cheap, but an actual tuning device will do so much more (including improving your stock mapping on a stock engine to provide either more hp/tq or better economy, or even both).

As an FYI, I work in the industry, if you want to do this asap, go with the Diablo (I prefer their software over competitors and most aftermarket parts like SC have pre-made tunes for the Diablo software).

If you are in no hurry, SCT is supposed to be releasing JK programmers early 14'. I have worked with SCT in the past with the multitude of Fords I have owned and worked on and I am rather familiar with their software. I will be getting their device ASAP, and will be running a multitude of dyno runs and road testing from full stock (with my oem sahara 18's and 255's) testing both pre-developed tunes and possibly a custom tune or two, as well as using my 35's as full stock and with tunes. I will be sharing all of this info with the forum, whether it is good or bad.
