Default Surfboard rack

I just had a 9 foot longboard made for me and was looking around to find a rack to put it on with the top down but have not found anything that I like. Im not looking to just strap it to the roll bar/windshield because im thinking it might damage my board. Does anyone have any ideas???

Not sure why you think it will damage the board... You dont need to crank that strap down that tight

I use a Thule rain gutter mount on the soft-top door surrounds... works fine, even at 65mph on freeway. Under $200 for everything you'll need (mounts + load bars).

Thule & Yakima make a rollbar mount which a lot of Jeeps use, but they don't fit on the JK with the padding.

Does this work for kayaks too?

I don't see why it shouldn't. This setup isn't the "most" stable of solutions, but a surfboard doesn't weigh much. I originally got this for my hardtop because it fits the rain gutters to carry skis & snowboards, and it mounts to the door surrounds in a similar fashion. I don't know the average weight of a kayak. I know they make kayak mounts that mount to the load bars.

I would be afraid to put so much weight on that plastic with a kayak. I'm thinking I might just build something that will mount like the freedom top kinda.

My other suggestion would be to get a windshield light bar, like from GOBI or RR, that mounts to the windshield brackets, and strap whatever to that and the rear rollbar.
