Default Suspension - MX6 Shocks

My 09 unlimited came with a 1" body lift and procomp MX6 adjustable shocks...am considering dropping the body lift and adding a 3" suspension lift...can I use the MX6 shocks?
I have received differing answers from reputable companies.

Can anyone help?

the adjustable part is the softness of the ride, if they are for a stock jeep and your adding a 3" lift.

you'll need new shocks

Default Mx6

Thanks for the quick response...so is there a rule of thumb, such as stock height shocks are limited to no more than 1" lift or something like that?
I really like the procomp shocks and would like to keep them, but don't want to shell out the $ for new ones if I don't have to.
