Default suspension and tire question

Just got my JK about three weeks ago, the mods have already started. I am looking into getting a budget boost lift but can't decide which brand and size to get, I want to run 35" tires with 16" wheels, just not sure which ones i want yet theirs just too many i like. I am only going to do some mild off roading, this is also my daily driver so any advice for the new guy would be great, thanks in advance.

I'd suggest starting here:

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/modified-tech-faq-answers-questions-every-newbie-has-18617/

Browse the wheels/tires and suspension threads to start with, then move on to axles/gears/drivetrain, as you just may want to regear after going to 35's.

Another good place to browse is the Write-Ups area. Lots of great how-to's for a bunch of lifts/hardware to give you more ideas. (assuming you're doing the work yourself?)

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-write-ups-39/write-up-index-quintessential-source-do-yourself-write-ups-42710/

Once you get your choices narrowed down a bit, try some searches up top there for tons of threads on all of the tires, wheels, lifts, etc.

You'll come away from there with a bunch more questions to ask...

Default lift

I started out with a 2.5" budget boost that was the spacer lift. Mine is an unlimited, if yours is a 2 door you can buy springs from a 4 door and get a little extra lift if you wanted to because they would be cheaper than lift springs. If you are planning on front bumper and or winch you may want to go ahead and buy stiffer lift springs. I added a winch and bumper to mine and had to upgrade springs because of the terribl sag it caused and they came from northridge 4x4. I am running 35" mud grapplers on 17" wheels. They rubbed on the rear fender flares until I cut them. I am running 3.21 gears and it sucs pretty ad but it is driveable. 4 Hi is useless though. I run highway in 5th gear because 6th wont pull it where I live. I am planning on regearing but just havent done it yet. Hope this helps.

All you need is a 2.5" lift to fit 35"s. I would suggest going with coils vs spacers, but since you dont do much off road driving the spacers would probably be better. They will give you the lift you want, and keep the factory ride quality. I am a big advocate of TeraFlex, but several companies make great spacer lifts. As for regearing that is on you, i have a 6speed with 4.10s so for me 35's are great, i can actually use 1st gear now.

Call David at Northridge and tell him what you want to do, he will walk you thru everything you need and get it out to you in a day or two.
