That is a horrible looking kit. $250 seems way too high.

Now if you were to do something & used hood hinges, it would at least look a little better.

It's probably dangerous, too as there is NO latch on the right side.
I personally dont like the looks of it however there is a latch available for the right side.

Lord those things are fugly. What about using the cool over-center clamps that used to come on old pick-ups? They would at least look like they belonged there in the first place.

The perfect tailgate would be like the old 4 runners where the window rolls up and down into the tail gate and then folds down truck bed style. A bonus would be having the wipers attatched to the gate as well instead of to my hard top.

But how frikkin cheesy is that? BOTH latches should operate with the gate handle. That's just some riggin if ever I saw it.

Doesn't seem like it would be a huge job for some sheet metal shop guy to make a tailgate from scratch that is designed to fold down. It'd be really cool if it had Jeep embossed on it like the CJ tailgate. Maybe take a pick-up truck tailgate latch assy and modify it. Can you say auto body shop class senior project?

Even cooler would be to make it like the late 70s 9 passenger GM station wagons/blazers, fold down or gate out. Those were cool, not sure why more SUVs/trucks etc don't have that setup.
