synthetic winch line
how does the synthetic winch line hold up in bad weather? I am looking at buying the Warn VR8000-S but if anyone is familiar with the weather in colorado springs its not forgiving. Hot and rainy in the summer and very cold in the winter
We use amsteel at work for pulling 40-60 tons all the time. We can no longer use chain, for safety reasons. Dirt, mud or ice don't seem to bother. We are higher up then c-springs. The synthetic line is amazing, I pulled a big cat haul truck out of the mud with a d10 dozer with the synthetic.
get a cover synthitic line doesn't like UV rays and it can break it down or weaken the line. Murphy will undoubtably raise his ugly head at the worst possible time too. Also I don't know if they use salt on the roads over there but I wouldn't think that salt would be good to have in the line either.
Check out www.dynamica-ropes.dk Some very good data out there from the manufacturer plus a good splicing guide.
