Default Synthetic winch line installation question?

Going to install my new viking winch line later today. Already got the hawse fairlead on and old line off. Do I need to winch the line with tension on it or can I just wind it up holding it with my hands and applying pressure that way? I know with steel u need to have tension but not sure with synthetic. Next question is how do I wind it up on? On steel u want it real neat so u dont get kinks, on synthetic how do u want ur line or does it matter?

Thanks

run it with tension and when you spool it, do it just like you would the steel cable. where it runs back n forth across the drum. if you just basically throw it on there you will soon find out it can still bind uder tesion and destroy your new synth line. plus, if you wind it any old way, you will also run out of room on the drum and the cable won't all fit.
