I've heard a lot of good things about the ATZs and they do drive nice around town. Never been off the pavement with them though. I have no idea how they'd do in the snow...
Good stuff, I appreciate everyones input. ATL JK, Ill have to take a look at the duratracs, I havent heard much about them because they are so new. Are you guys talking about the BFG A/T KO? I am really liking those MT ATZ's though.

So, my 2 cents is that the BFG A/T's are very competent offroad tire.
yeah I sure was. Those tires were like 50% tread too if I remember right... If they can live through him revving to 7k RPM tires smoking and grabbing and whatnot then they are one tough tire. They did get some amazing traction up that hill. Hell, I have nitto mud graps and I didn't try that hill.

I had them in the past, and would own them again for sure. I may get a set when these wear out.

I run Cooper S/T's. I get a lot fo snow where I live, lots of steep roads, and I have a long, steep, gravel driveway. These tires have done exceptionally well. My landlord has a TJ with BFG AT's, he got stuck ont he driveway. I drove around his jeep, and on the rest of the way up without any issues. And he has a rear locker. They are pretty quiet on the street, and they have a more agressive tread than most other AT's. They also have stud holes in them so you can have them studded.

If you go with ProComp, get the regular AT, not the extreme AT. The regular AT is severe weather rated (not many tires are), and is much better in the snow.

Either way, Cooper and ProComp are both american owned and manufactured tires. As are the Mickey Thompsons. Which in our current economy, matters to me. BFG's are not, any money you spend on them goes to france.

I'm another fan of the BFG A/T KO, especially since snow and ice are of concern. The other great thing is the wear characteristics are phenominal. As long as you can keep them out of serious mud, they perform extremely well off-road as well.

The Goodyear Duratracs are interesting as well, but as they are new I would like to see how they perform and wear over the long-term.

I had the BFG A/T KO tires on my F-350 and they lasted well over 50K miles (a lot of highway driving though) which is amazing on a truck that heavy and they performed great on and off road

just a quick question/s about the BFG's. what width is better on road in ice and the wet? i like the look of the 305's but will the 285's be better on the road. also what is better for thick snow?

I have logged over 60K miles on 35" BFG AT's on a H2 (please dont flame me..it's a work truck and I would never buy one...they are junk!!) These are all highway miles. The tires never cupped or had any problems...they are great tires with a solid performance record. They are good in the snow and rain, I have no experience in the mud with them. Now when it came to choosing 35's for my JK it was tough to turn my back on those...but I felt a Jeep needed something more aggressive. I played the tire game in my head for months and ended up choosing KM2's because of their reputation. I liked the look of several tires better including Toyo M/T Open country and MT MTZ's but I went with the less expensive alternative and "maybe" a better performer. What I have learned is that the KM2's are as quiet if not quieter than the BFG AT's....its hard to compare since the Jeep has no top since mounting them and the Hummer is a pretty isolated ride.

Well....I just rambled like a loon Good luck on your choice, choose a reputable brand and roll with it.

I shoulda bought 37's ZOIKS! I'm regearing to 5:13's this week.

I really like my Mickey ATZ's. I've gone thru several brands over the years and they are my favorites. I was leery about getting them but glad I did.
Quieter, wearing well so far, excellent this winter (and we get a lot of snow/ice), and I think they look great.
I had the BFG AT's...very capable tire but UGLY.

PS: these are 33" without any lift
