According to WARN all of their products, except for two, are made in the U.S.A. Specifically, Clackamas, Oregon.

Of the two that are not made in the States, the Tabor is not one of them.

I got lucky and mine is made in the USA. Buying American made products is just not important to some folks anymore, but it is to me.
Means something to me too!

I was thinking that the Tabor winch was US made, I just couldn't remember for sure, and since YOU have it now, I couldn't look.

The Tabors are indeed made in china, just as the new superwinch LP Series. I don't know who you talked to at Warn, but I spoke with three different people as many times to verify it. Doesn't really matter to me. I know mine was made here.

That isn't what WARN told me on the telephone when I called them today after reading this thread. What information do you have that says they are made in China?

The same information that you have that says they're made in USA. Like I said last, I don't really care where they're made. I did do a google search, and came up with both claims actually. So who the hell knows for sure? I sure don't.

Default Tabor 9k or Warnm8000

Thanks for the feedback. I was considering the Warn M8000, but was not sure if it was not enough power for a 4 dr jk. I don't do a bunch of wheeling only occaisionaly but would like to have a winch just in case. Thoughts on whether the Warn would do the job?

Remember too, MOST of the time you'll be close enough to a tie down point to use a snatch block if you so desire. Then you're talkin 16000 pounds of pull. The Warns typically can pull more than their rating with no sweat, though. Warn has all the specs on their web site.

I can confirm the LP 8500 Superwinch is in fact made in China. The instructions and inspection sheet had Chinese characters all over them. BUT in saying that, mine has done me fine, doesnt get hot and pulls me out. The Superwinch sticker on the solenoid box fell off though...

Well, when I refer to something as chinese "junk", I'm not necessarily talking about quality. I just wanna clear that up. All I am referring to is the constant outsourcing of all of our goods and services in general. Some of the stuff coming out of china has some quality to it, no doubt. The fact is though, I am old school. I believe to buy American whenever possible. I love my country and I want to support it every chance I can. Heck, lots of the parts on our Jeeps are made overseas. You just can't get around it, so you have to do the best you can.
