soo i want to get rid of the ugly tailgate with the tire rack and all that on it. i want a clean smooth tailgate!!! and of course i cant find one anywhere!! anybody got any ideas?

 

One of the more advanced builders like Camp or Screamin Lizard might be able to disassemble the tailgate and re-skin it with a smooth piece of steel. Won't be cheep though.

 

yeah thats what im thinking! i mean that sounds like the best route. but prob exensive as hell. just wondering if anybody knew of like a aftermarket or something

but what about a tailgate that dropped like a truck havent seen one yet but thought there was a kit available?

 

yeah i would like to do that too. but i dont wanna have the tailgate that is on here without the tire. makes the tailgate look like its missing pieces lol.

 

swag offroad makes a cover for the holes and such. They also make a tailgate conversion to make it a drop down. Doesn't look great IMO though.


Warrior Products also makes a cover plate that you can add a license plate holder to, and even a third brake light. A member on the forum has it. His SN is FUNWAGON

I've also looked for a clean tail gate, but no dice. I would love to shed 150 lbs and gain a bit of highway gas mileage. My JK is the first vehicle I bought that actually came with spare.

You could always fly to Japan and pick up a tailgate skin there (scroll down a bit) If you choose this option get one for me to!

If you can get 20 of em back you could pay for the trip and the installation/paint.
