Default Tailgate Retainer?

I was browsing quadratec for goodies and noticed these two things, that looked familiar.

I bought my jeep used and it had both of these in the rear storage, can anyone tell me what they are for or what they do?

Those are the clips to hold in the back window retainer bar when you have your soft top up...

They clip on to the rear - called "swing gate brackets". Hold the rear soft top window "swing gate bar". If you had the hard top, these were removed. They just clip into place.

See soft top section of owners manual.

and that's about 3$ more per clip than the dealership charged me 3 days ago. They even had them in stock and the new clips are very tight.

Obviously by now you know what they are..they hold the rear window bar in place....They ONLY come with vehicles equiped with soft tops or vehicles that have the dual top option. I recently purchased my 08 JK Sahara with Dual Top option...those clips came in a large seperate box along with all the other soft-top hardware (plastic rails tracks or whatever they are called for the softtop) and another large box containing the soft windows.

So there is no logical reason that you should have them in your JK unless maybe your Jeep was built as a softtop vehicle from the factory and the dealer swapped it for hardtop, they might have forgotten to remove the clips...if you have your window sticker....take a look see if it came from the factory with the hardtop or if the dealer did the change?

So does anybody know if Mopar/Jeep or anybody else has built a BETTER Tailgate Retainer clip? My original one's on my '07 JK SUX!

Thanks, Ben
