taking mods off before trade in?
My wife didn't like the 4DR JK so I bit the bullet for a 2DR. On the 4DR I had a Rockhard skid, heavy front bumper/winch and other minor add on's. I said I would make a trade if they took all the goodies of the old Jeep and replaced them on the new one. They did it!!
I had to bite the bullet unfortunately.
They normally don't, but you can guarantee they charge the customer that buys it. Always sell out right if you want to get some of your investment back.
Try a different dealer with out the mods to get a comparison . I bet your dealer is trying to double dip by getting the mods for free or very cheap and then selling the Jeep at a premium for the mods too. Also why trade in the 13 for a 14?

When trading in my 2010 JKUR, had a price for with and without mods. Was worth it for me to remove, swap what I could, and sell the rest. Worked out a deal with a buddy of mine who works at the dealer and he did the swapping on his own time. Cost me an XHD bumper and a set of bushwacker flares I didn't really want anyhow. The parts I couldn't fit on my MW3 2 Dr, I sold, and bought some new parts with the $$
When I was looking to trade mine in on a 13 they wanted the bumpers, lights, rock rails, wheels, and alarm system. They offered to let me keep my radio and winch if I could find a stock radio to put back in it.
Your mods have to be tasteful and appeal to the majority of people, not specifically the folks like us who are on the forums and actively involved in the hobby.

Although if I go ahead and put in the new axle assemblies I'm looking at it will be a long time before I need another Jeep!
Take off your mods and have them reappraise it.. The price won't go down much.. Your nuts if you let them keep that stuff!! I'm picking my '13 10A Rubi up on Saturday and selling my '09 locally.. My lift, wheels, tires, lights, etc. are being removed.
I've had a lot of jeeps and I'm still not a comes to seeing four doors
It's great for the sport because jeep is selling a lot more jeeps to folks who can't get by with two doors and the more jeeps out there the better it is for everyone

remember in many states if you sell your jeep locally and then go buy a new one as opposed to trade it in you will take a big sales tax hit.. if your jeep is older the hit isnt as bad... if its newer its a bigger hit (less of a difference in price of yours to price of new)..
sales tax is often charged as the difference from the trade in to the new.. so if you traded your JK in at 24k and your new one cost 34k.. you only pay sales tax on 10k...
if you sell your old one and buy a new one separately.. you pay sales tax on 34k...
unless you are strapped for space.. I always keep ALL the stock parts I take off and can put them back in BEFORE I go get a new Jeep... usually if im out to shop for a new one its not a "let me kick it around maybe".. its "im getting a new jeep and soon" so removing the mods is imminent anyway..
Dealers have told me that unless the mods are Serious and Look really HOT.. (yes Look hot) that typically they dont help your trade value and sometimes hurt value, as depending on the city you live in prospective buyers dont want to buy a Jeep thats had the SH*T kicked out of it..
esp in larger city suburbs where many JK trades have never even seen anything other than pavement...
in smaller towns or in areas where wheeling is popular a modded Jeep stands a better chance at bringing good trade.. as a buyer may look at it as "oh cool a Jeep I can just wheel and dont have to build first"...
