Default Taking springs out

Ok, I'm getting ready to tackle putting in a 3.25 spring lift myself. I haven't done this on a JK yet. I did do it to a TJ. How easy is it to remove the springs from the JK? I know what you have to do to remove it, I'm just wondering if I will have to wrestle them like I did on the TJ. Also if anyone has a any tips that this could make installing the lift a little easier, I'm listening. I'm installing a RC3.25
Thanks

Best way is to make sure you loosen the lower control arms and track bar bolts and youll get the axle low enough to where they just slide out. Make sure you lower the jeep and put all its weight down before you torque them back up.

Thanks guys. It was a PITA to take out the springs in my TJ. I hope it is much easier tomorrow on JK. Is it easy to get to the top shock bolts? Read somewhere that it was tight quarters

Not to hijack, but why don't you guys use a spring compressor instead of loosening everything else up? Is there a reason. That's what I did when I put the lift on my TJ and it seemed to work well. I didn't use a cheapy spring compressor and it took a little while with the small compressor but it worked pretty well.

I'm going to be doing the same thing in a few weeks. Hope to go with the compressor route, even if it is a bit more time consuming, but don't want to torque anything out of place with the control arms, brakes, etc.

Removing the front trans skid will help the front driveshaft drop plus give you a good location for axle stands on the chassis. Longer springs will probably go easier with spring compressors, I used them on 2 inch springs. Pau attention on where you place the compressors on the new front springs to ensure they will clear when the spring ends are seated. Good luck.

Before I learned about the trick of loosening the control arm bolts I had to use a spring compressor to tighten the springs and pull them out. To me, that is the more dangerous way. Makes me nervous

I've seen this done and it doesn't look very safe. I will try to stay away from spring compressors

Well I did it. It took me 6 hrs but seemed to go fairly well. I installed the RC 3.25 lift today and was kinda fun. Had experienced some problems but nothing to brag about. Front shocks went in well with a little bit of prying with a crowbar. The rears went in with a charm. I have only installed a RC2.5 before in a TJ with a little help. Today I was flying solo for most part with a little help from roommate that never did this before, and a girlfriend that was nice enough to text me the whole damn time. It's in and I feel pretty proud of myself that I can label myself as a part changer now( that's basically what it is). Thanks for the advise from y'all that took the time to lend a little advice.
