Default Tera 2.5" and shock extenders

I got my tires and wheels on Friday ( Toyo MT's 33x12.50 r15) and it looks great. I get a small amount of rub on the air dam at full lock on the street. Slight rubbing when fully flexed.

I am just going to do a BB lift and am curious what those who have the Tera lift with the extenders think about it. I like the idea of keeping it more stock right now but am always a little concerned with adding extenders to things. Those who have it, do you feel it is still sturdy enough?

I would like to get a lift ordered soon but would also like to see Wayoflifes write up first to see what he thinks.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Bryan

Hey Brian, if I can make the time and if I can get my tires, I hope to have my lift installed this week. The write-up for it should come shortly there after

Yes, the extenders are plenty sturdy and easy to install. No problems as far as I have experienced and can anticipate.

Good Luck,
Chuck

Maybe I will start checking around and see which places have them in stock so I can get one shipping my way. I will hold off on installing until that write up is done.

I think I can handle the lift with no problems but I am just a little concerned about centering the steering wheel. Is there a write up for this anywhere or just that one picture that has been shown?

Thanks Guys,
Bryan

Hey Bryan,
Using a 15mm wrench, loosen the 2 nuts on the turnbuckle as shown in the pic below...

Then rotate the turnbuckle clockwise or counter clockwise as needed while a friend watches the steering wheel (or you periodically check on it yourself) go back to center. Once re-centered, secure the nuts and take it for a drive. This may take a few tries to get it on 100% but that's all there is to it.

I have to say if i had to do it again, i would just order the 2.5 with the longer shocks. The front shock extension is an aluminum piece that screws onto the factory shock and just seems like a weak point. As for the drive its close to stock, but i feel like aftermarket shocks might have a little more give. Factory shocks seem a little bouncier than before.

Adjusting the steering back to center seems simple enough. I will give it a go. I guess if worst comes to worst, I can always take it in to get an alignment done.

I think I will go with the extenders for now. I have heard from many people that the Tera shocks aren't the greatest ones out there and tend to not have enough dampening. So, if I am not happy with the shock setup I will just buy some better shocks later on. I hear lots of good about Fulltraction shocks and OME shocks so I will probably go that route.

The jeep already seems to wander a little more with the tires and I expect it to wander a little more with the lift.

Anyone think there would be much benefit to the a new steering stabilizer with what I am doing? If yes, which would be better?

Thanks
Bryan
