Default Is Teraflex 2.5 too much for 33"?

I have been patiently waiting for Old Man Emu to come out with a suspension system, but it looks like that could be 6 months or so down the road, if not longer...looking at budget boosts, I have to say that the Teraflex seems to be the most complete, offering three versions, with shocks, with adapters for stock shocks, and no shock version.

Is 2.5" overkill for 33" tires? I have AEV pintler wheels on the way, plan to put 33x12.5x17 BFG MT on them (I really like the original Rubi look and want to keep that)...

Another thought is, even though 2.5" might be too much now for 33" tires, new bumpers are going to cause some droop due to the weight difference between el cheapo plastics and real bumpers, so the 2.5" lift might not end up being 2.5" in the post bumper era...

Thanks,

glwood

You can fit 33's and all you need is 1.5" wheel spacers

Here's another comfirmation for you. Teraflex 2.5 BB with shocks and BFG MT's 285/70/17's.

Good luck

I know you can fit them without a lift, I just want a little more room to avoid ANY issues with rubbing. I had a set of 1.5" wheel spacers, put them on my stock rig to see what the effect was, did not care for the look for two reasons. They put the stock tires out where they looked ok with the outside of the flares, but the JK looked goofy to me without being up a little higher. And, if I used the next bigger size tire, they would have stuck out too far beyond the flares, don't really care for that look, just my opinion; I guess I have seen too many Jeeps around that have wide tires sticking way out with no lift, looks ridiculous to me...

luckie44- thank you very much for the photo and the encouragement. Those are the wheels I have on order (should be shipping today or tomorrow) except in silver. Yours are argent, I take it from the photo...anyway, that is the look I am trying to achieve, adjusted for a two door Rubicon...nice JK...I see that 4.88 gears are on your wish list, is that because you have 3.21 now, or do you have 4.10 and just want some more zip?

I think I will put in an order for a Teraflex BB...do you have the shocks or the shock adapters?

doojer, thanks. I can see that if the lift shows up before the wheels, I can run my stock wheels and tires for a while and it will look ok, then add the tires and wheels after the fact...
