Okay so I need new lower control arms and my mechanic at a local shop is suggesting the Teraflex Alpine lower front control arms for my JKU. He's also saying I shouldn't do all of them at once until the others start going bad...is this normal to only change two at a time? Anybody had any problems with these? Should I just go for it or stick with OEM replacements? I had heard through a buddy that the arms with the johnny joints squeak and rattle sometimes and drove him crazy until he went with a rubber bushing and I think he went with Metal Cloaks in the end...can anyone help me with a little experienced advice?

You can just replace 2 at a time.
If you don't need adjustable arms you could probably get some stockers for next to nothing.
I run the Metalcloak lowers on the front with my leveling kit on my new jeep.
Have all metalcloak 4 front arms on my old jeep. 4.5 years and still kicking.
Never have been a fanew of the Teraflex arms. Have seen too many failures.

I love the alpine tf arms. Easy to adjust and smooth. I am not hard core by any means but I have done the Rubicon trail, Dusy Ershim and go to moab every year and do 6 and 7 rated trails. Mine are still going strong.

I personally run the Teraflex Sport Lowers Front and Rear on my Jeep. So to answer your question, its fine to just replace 2 at a time.

I did just do a Metal Cloak Gamechanger 3.5" ARB kit on a customers 16', I am in love with those arms! that's the second set I have installed so far, and Chances are high when I figure out where i'm taking my Jeep lift, that's what will be on mine!

Excellent folks I appreciate the insight and will make a decision between the Alpine's and the Metal Cloaks for sure this week. Anybody else out there running aftermarket CA's with no issues??

literally 10's of thousands of people are running after market control arms. after rereading I'm thinking you are talking about on a stock non lifted jeep. If that is the case just buy a set of new take offs from someone.

Actually I have an AEV 2.5 dual sport lift on my JKU. I'm curious about removing the geometry correction brackets and replacing them with the adjustable front lowers my mechanic said that would alleviate the need for the brackets altogether anyway plus give me a far more stable on road/off road ride.

I have ran the aev geo brackets and now the alpine lower control arms on my RK 2.5/3.5 lift. I could not feel a seat of the pants difference between the two. I offroad a fair amount and like the additional clearance altho I have done the rubicon trail and the dusy ershim with two other buddies that have aev lifts and run geo brackets and they did not have any issues and they both were running 35's so I guess my point is clearance for them was not a big deal.
