Default Teraflex BB ?

I have a 2.5" Teraflex BB that I'm going to install. The directions say that I need to get 1.5 inch spacers if I'm going to keep my stock wheels and tires. Is that true? If so, why?

Thanks for any help.

Most people move to taller/wider tires, which leads to rubbing.

With stock tires/wheels, you may still rub on the larger rear links supplied in the kit. Be sure to follow the install docs on that step, it'll tell you which side of the swaybar to install on. It will also depend on just how centered your rear axle is. Being off-center a bit will make it more likely to rub. If you have issues with it, just reinstall the stock links until you get spacers or new rims.

I have this Teraflex BB 2.5 lift with no spacers and stock wheels and tires ( 255/75 17)....I have no issues with rubbing. If you try to put the rear swaybar links on the outside it most likely will rub. I have mine on the inside like the directions say... I also installed the rear track bar bracket. I have not been off roading to see if it rubs with full articulation yet but on the roads it's fine.

You do not need spacers if you are using the stock wheels and tires. You will only need spacers if you are using wider tires. My Jeep has been running the stock tires and wheels from day one, with no spacers, and has logged 2000 miles (1100 off road miles) with the Teraflex lift on it.

Stock rims do rub. I installed the 2.5" BB and my stock tires (255/70/18) started rubbing. Frnt tires at full turn rub slightly with brake line componets, and rear sway bae will sometimes hit the tires. Terraflex sponsor on the forum did clarify that 1.25 spacers are needed. Installed my spacers and no more rubbing. Other non-stock wheels do not rub, just the stock wheels.

I will second this, I tried to run without wheel spacers and the wheels would have rubbed the swaybar.

I agree. I had the 2.5 coil lift installed and needed the wheel spacers, mine rubbed and I have P255/75R/17.

I think it's weird that some rub and some don't... I would say try without the spacers and see if your does or not.

Here's rubbing in the front wheels at full turn:

The rear sawy bar was correctly centered, as I found "clean" spots at both sides.

No more rubbing after Terra's 1.25 spacers.
