Default Teraflex BB question

ShredX and I were trying to add 3/4" spacers to the front of his Unlimited with the Tera 2.5" BB last Saturday, but WE COULDN'T GET THAT BUMP STOP EXTENDER OUT of the upper mount...you know, the one the instructions says to put in with a jack???

Has anyone added 3/4 spacers to the Tera BB and/or removed the spacer lift for a different lift, and has the answer as to how to remove that extension?

Dangeweberrymudge.

Man, I don't envy you as this is one hell of a job. What you will need to do is use a long flat head screw driver, hammer it up in between the extension and retaining cup and then pry down the screwdriver while grasping the extension and pushing down on it as well. As I said, it's a hell of a job but with a lot of effort and time, it can be done.

I have the 3/4" spacers up front with the 2.5" Teraflex. I was able to remove the bumpstop extenders with ALOT of pursuasion! That was the hardest part of adding the spacers, but they will come out. I got them back in using the Jack method.

Good Luck
Chuck

Thanks, WOL & 07RubiJK, for your responses; I figured as much, but was hoping against hope that you might have stumbled onto some magical short cut that no one would have thought of... I, too, will be adding the 3/4 spacers when I replace my front bumper, so I will tackle this job when the time comes...why, oh why, did I remove those spacers when I put on the Tera BB???

I've removed my Tera Bump Stops several times (don't ask why). Just squirt some windex in the top of the spring tower (lubricant), wait a couple minutes, then pull hard sideways. They pull right out.

Yeah man, it works! I was sh!ting myself the first time I had to remove them because I had to remove some Black Diamond ones prior to the the Tera's and there was NO WAY they were going to come out because of the hard polyurethane they're made out of. I ended up cutting the Black Diamonds out.

Anyway, when I had to pull the Tera's I thought they were going to have to be cut too. I pulled and pulled and they would almost come out, but not quite. I decided to lube them with windex and they popped right out!

I pulled mine twice last weekend using the windex method. I weigh 230lbs and lift weights, so maybe that helps. :toung: They pull right out for me, but I still have to use the "jack" method to reinstall them.

Well, I only weigh 160, and don't lift weights (other than wrenches and jeep parts) but I will sure give it a try...on the other hand, ShredX is considerably bigger and stronger than I, so between the two of us...why not?

Thanks,
glwood
