Teraflex Installation - Can I handle it???
So I'm going to buy the 2.5" BB kit but I dont want to pay a shop the $200 labor to install it for me if i dont have to. I have very limited experience in wrenching on a truck but my buddy has all the tools and some experience working under his BMW. How easy is installation and do you think we will be able to figure it out? I have read so much about rubbing and issues with stock wheels causing problems and such. Should I leave the job to a professional? Your honest thoughts please
This really is an easy job to do. I went the route of having someone install and ended up having to reinstall because they didn't read half of the directions that I gave them. Use the write-up here that WOL did and it will be pretty easy. plan for about 5 hours and make sure your jack is tall enough with the lift to get the tires off the ground.
i had 0 experience with anything more than changing oil and tires.....and i did it with my cousin in his barn....now, it took 7-8 hours, but we got it done hahaha...we ran into some problems, but got them solved easily enough....once you do one the rest fly by pretty quick, the rear was especially easy....
also, i did not find it necessary to remove track bars at all, the axle can drop down enough without removing, although it may be a lil tougher

I wrenched alot on my CJ's, but haven't done much since the parting several years ago. I was worried about all the computer crap and safety and such. Had a shop install my Rubicon Express 2in BB and as I watched them I realized that the coil spring set up looked even easier to deal with than leaf springs. The damn things just fall out when you get every thing undone and jacked right. I realized right then any other mod I would do myself. As long as you and you friend are good on basic hand tools and a good floor jack , big wood blocks or jack stands ,you'll be just fine.
Thanks! I'm gettin fired up about this! I was planning on installing just the kit and keeping the stock shocks, wheels, tires, for now. Does anyone know if I absolutley need wheel spacers or any extra parts if I dont plan on doing any hardcore trail riding for a while? The main issue with rubbing only occurs when the suspension is fully flexing, right? Will I be good for city driving and light offroad without additional adjustments/parts?
I believe it will be real close. I lived with the occassional rub because I had the new rims on order. I figure 5 spacers and I might as well throw in another 50 bucks and get some steelie's plus it looks better.

i have stock wheels and tires on (07).....i havent noticed any rubbing as of yet....took off front sway bars and will probably remove rears as soon as it warms up a lil (at least 30!, come on global warming!)...this will solve my problem until i grab new wheels and tires
