Default Teraflex Leveling Kit

Well, I was trying to minimize what had to be changed with my Jeep by choosing this Teraflex Leveling Kit (2 inch front, 1 inch rear). I knew lifting could possibly cause rubbing on the rear sway bar without backspacing the wheels, but was under the impression this was only true to 2 inch lifts.

But this is not the case. I can hear the sidewalls of the MT tires biting onto (what I believe) is the rear sway bar by simply going up the curb into my driveway. Does it get worse if you articulate offroad? Do I absolutely have to backspace now? Or can one get by with this rubbing without causing damage?

From what I understand, you must backspace 4.5 inches to clear it. The set of wheels I like are 17 by 8.5 but are only 4.75 BS. Not good enough? And is that too wide for stock size Rubicon tires?

Also, are most people experiencing some play in the steering wheel after lifting? Because I sure am.

If it's rubbing your tires going into the driveway, they're going to rip your tire off-road. 4.75 will work.

I have the Teraflex leveling kit installed and have the stock Rubi wheels and tires and no rubbing issues, even at full up and down articulation.

I'm guessing there is something I can do to avoid changing wheels....I'm gonna take a hard look under there and figure this out.....

Spidertrax wheel spacers and you keep the stock wheels.

Doesn't seem like you should be rubbing with just a 1in spacer in back.

Why don't you put the swaybar links on the inside? Then you shouldn't have a rubbing issue.

At this point, it doesn't seem to be the tires rubbing. Maybe more like the suspension shifting kind of sound. Anyone else experiencing any noises underneath?

Check your rear wheels vs. the swaybar links.

Wheels and not the tires? The sound I hear is certainly not wheels....But I'll take a look at that....

Thanks..
