Default Teraflex Longarm Install...Doing it myself.....should I ???

4" Teraflex longarm with most of the goodies, gonna run some 37" tires.
2011 Unlimited Rubicon...In Hawthorne, Ca...5 minutes south of LAX
About 10 shops around me that would love to install it......$ 1100 to $ 1400.

Thinking real hard on installing it myself. I know a welder that is a pro when I'm ready to do the welding, of course I have to pay him for his time.
He is a friends friend that has done a fair amount of welding for me so I am happy with his work.
I'm thinking.....
Rent a car......200.
Welder......150+
God knows what else...$

I do have (4) 6 ton jacks, most tools, wood 4x4's lol, sawzall, i can borrow a grinder-buy some wheels....

I'm thinking real hard about it.... I do believe that if did have the spare $1200 or so laying around that I would take it in....just saying.

Is this worthy of a install party... or a kick off party?

Any advice ? Thank you, Robert.

Hardest part and most time consuming is removing the old brackets and cleaning up the frame.....

Agreed!

If you have the skill set, do it yourself!

x2 on that part. The biggest problem we have seen with this kit, is welders burning the brackets in too hot or too cold. Good luck and if you have any questions, give us a call.

Take your time with it, weld a little on one side then go to the other side, work back and forth between the 2 sides. You don't need to drop the gas tank, but you can. Right now we are in the middle of filming a install video for this kit, or I would post that up to help you out.

I just did this kit on my jk with floor jacks and jack stands. Its not hard, just take your time. It seems you trust the guy that will be doing the welding so you will be good to go. I have some pics from my build im going to put up in little bit. All in all this is a great kit and Im very happy with Teraflex.

Id love to see a write-up on this also. Im looking to install a Teraflex 3" kit, but would love to get any info I can. I talked to someone from Teraflex at the York show (at your booth UGOTKERN), very nice guy, very helpful, didnt try to steer me to stuff I dont need. I will definately go with Teraflex. Its good to see you on here helping people out
