Default Teraflex Quick Disconnects

I plan on heading to 4wheelparts and purchasing the quick discos for my stock X, but am wondering about a little note on their website:

"Note: When installing the swaybar disconnects on a non-lifted jeep, off-set wheels or spacers may be necessary for proper tire clearance."

If anyone else has done this, is this true? If so, which brand/size of spacer would everyone recommend?

Thanks!!

Also, forgot to ask, does disconnecting the front and/or rear sway bar help with washboard type roads??

Thanks again!

Yeah - disco'd rigs ride way smoother.

If you put the sway bar links inboard...they clear the tires...essentially, the oem links are pencil thin...and the QD's are more like golf club handle thick...so they need a bit more room to allow for the extra beef.

I prefer the JKS QD II's myself, as they are adjustable, so if I add spacers or a lift later...they can be easily lengthened as needed...plus, they go on/off the easiest too.

If you do add a wheel spacer...use the TIRE width as a guide as to the thickness of the spacer that should work best over all.

Thanks TEEJ!!

I guess I just wanted to go with Teraflex for two reasons:

1) cheaper
2) cool way to secure them out of the way.

With the JKS, how do you secure the front sway bar?

For the rear, do I disconnect only at the axle - or at both locations? How would I secure it out of the way?

Finally, what do you mean by "TIRE width"? I have 18" stock sahara tires/wheels on my X and was thinking of going with a Spidertrax 1.25" to 1.5" spacer. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the help! FYI - This is my first 4x4 vehicle and am REAL green regarding knowledge of this area. I've only done basic electrical & filter changes on my old '64 chevy (which, by the way, had NO sway bars - front or rear!!). THanks for all the help from everyone!!

By the way TEEJ, your avitar is awesome!!

The tire width is WHY you USE wheel spacers...to move the tire further outboard to clear inboard wheel well components.

If going with a wider section width tire in the future, say a 12.5"/305-315 mm width....then a 1.5" Wheel Spacer would be about right.

I use a simple alligator clamp to hold the sway bar to the frame....very easy.

You can also simply mount a pin to the frame and swing the bar link up, and snap ring it in place, etc....similar to the TF approach, if you wanted to.

It really isnt that hard to carry zip ties with you.... I dont understand this concept of "cool" way to tie up since the only time you disconnect is off road... and when you are off roading you arent really stopping to let people check out the jeep...

but hey thats just me...

....up until a few weeks ago I didnt even know how to disconnect....

I like the alligator clamp better than a zip tie...re-useable....a simple squeeze and release clamp essentially....DONE.

I have Tera's discos and being able to "dock" them is convienent to me. I had them on my TJ and liked them so much I got them for the JK. They are very easy to disco and reconnect as well and are very quiet on road(ie no center section)
