Question Teraflex vs. Skyjacker vs. Rubicon Express

I have been trying to decide which lift to go with. What are the real differences and benefits to any of these kits 4-5.5"? I know the RE kit is a longarm and the Teraflex and Skyjacker are short-medium arm length. Is RE worth the extra money?

Let me ask the obvious follow-up: Why? I've seen a LOT of Skyjacker trashing... and I'm not sure if it's deserved or not (I don't know either way), but can you give some reasoning behind your opinion?

I have used Skyjacker on 3 different Jeeps and have always been happy with the ride quality. With that said, I wouldn't recommend using their kit unless another alternative to their rear track bar bracket is used. Theirs is a riser bracket which bolts onto the factory axle bracket. This is a weak point and is subject to being ripped from the axle when exposed to the increased leverage of that type of bracket. I do like the soft sprign rate which is typical of their systems, but over time they do not really hold thier intended lift hight. I would consider using them as component of a hybrid kit though.

An easy fix for the weak bracket is to run a bracket from the track bar mount to the pumpkin. This will support the opposite force from the track bar pulling on the axle bracket. I recommend this on any rear track bar Jeep. On my TJ I did this and had no problems. i have seen numerous axle brackets riiped from the axle and it was not due to a extended bracket. These were stock brackets with aftermarket track bars.

what about long arm kits though. I'm not a huge fan of skyjacker either; but is it worth buying the long arm kit? Will you see more flex out of it?

IMO
I just dont think the quality of the lift kits is the same as teraflex or RE...
Ive never wheeled skyjacker, but looking at craftsmanship of products it doesnt compare.

ive also read alot about saggy lift springs...

I used the Skjacker 4" and intend to replace the trackbar brackets with adjustable bars, but for now, I've spent enough $$$$ the last 24 hours. I'm taking a break, besides, I still have other parts to install. Just remember, you will always find someone to trash any brand out there, no man made parts are perfect. Just my .02.

Oh yeah, I lucked up and got black arms, not those stinking red things, although the springs are red, go figure.
