Default TF 2.5 BB, Rear sway bar issues

Hey, I've got the Teraflex BB installed on my 4 Door Rubi.
I am having trouble with the rear sway bar and clearance with my tires. The sway bar links are to close to the tire and would rub while offroading.

I thought I seen a post on here that had a fix for this issues on it, as I was of the belief that the 2008 JK's are having a bit of the same issue with the rear sway bar links and the TF BB.

Anyone have any suggestions.
Thanks.

It's been a while since I did mine but I am almost certian that I read this either on the write up on this site or on the TF instructions that you needed to put the links on the oppisite side from which they were originally mounted. did you get the longer links with your kit? This is how I did mine..

This was quoted from the write up section on this forum:

"If you purchased a kit that came equipped with new rear links, you may find it necessary to install them on the opposite side of the sway bar and axle mount especially if you are still running factory wheels with 6.25" of back spacing. Otherwise, the mounting bolt on the sway bar may come into contact with your wheel and/or tire sidewalls. Once installed, apply some grease to the zerk nipple using a grease gun."

here is the link to the Teraflex BB writeup:

I actually did do that, however it was still to darn close to the tire.

And I did get the longer sway bar links in my package.

Not sure how to help you on that. I know teraflex is a member on the forum so find a post by them then message them about it. That would be your best bet.

if they still rub you must have installed them wrong or something else is causing it.

I have the TF BB with he new rear links and they are installed on the inside of the swaybar, the bolts did rub the frame a little but there is no way they'll hit the rim. At least with the 17" rims, maybe the 16's or 18's have different offsets. I actually put some washers on to move them out some to try and keep the bolts from hitting the frame.

I also got the BDS trackbar bracket to recenter the axle. I suppose it's possible just one side is hitting (drivers) but mine didn't even before the BDS.

X2 on that.

No no, I put washers between the bolt head and the sway bar to keep the threaded end of the end link bolt from rubbing on the frame.

I suppose I could have flipped the bolt around so the nut was on the wheel side.

I had the same issue with my '08 X Unlimited. The rear driver's side sway bar was rubbing the tire. I was (and still am) running stock 16s with the stock 30" tires, so it wasn't an oversized tire issue.
As best as I could figure, this is something that has changed with the '08 model year, as even the TeraFlex box had a warning sticker that said something to the extent of:

"If you are planning on using stock wheels you will need backspacers", again I am just paraphrasing that.

I ended up just purchasing 1.5" Spidertax backspacers and that fixed everything.

I don't think it has anything to do with this particular lift, I think it has to do with the '08 model year. From what I experienced I cannot see how TeraFlex had anything specifically to do with this issue. It seems to me like any lift kit at or around 2.5 inchs would have caused the same issue to occur, regardless of whether that kit was from TeraFlex, Black Diamond, or anyone else.

It appears that you have two options, run wheel spacers or purchase after-market wheels that have a more desirable backspacing. Since this was unexpected for me as well I opted for the wheel spacers as they were cheaper.
