Is there a structural difference in a Rubicon D44 and a Sahara D44?

G2 sells the Currie Rock Jock 3 w/ a Detroit locker for $2,900 assembled with gear of your choice. Which is about where your $2,200 will end up after the labor to install the gears.

Good point, I was going to try to do the install myself. But if I did have someone build the axle I would be looking at a few hundred bucks.

You are not going to believe this. I was reading on the forum that some 2007 sports came with a D44 in the rear. I went out and checked and mine already has a D44 there. So my problem is solved. Super 44 rebuild kit here I come.

All JKs come with Dana 44s in the rear.

True now yes. But for 2007 the 35 was used on the first 6 - 9 months of production.

I'm looking for a D44 to put under a jk sport with an ARB locker and didn't know if one was a better platform than the other to start with. The Sahara model is cheaper.
