I have heard you can get the Volvo axles (used) for $3k -$4k depending on condition and what comes with them. Some are equipped with vacuum actuated lockers. The Volvo axles are good for up to a 38" tire. The Unimog axles are weight much more, I think too much for a light truck like our Jeeps.

I have never contacted Portal-Tek, I'm pretty sure the price would not be in budget. That will never stop me from dreaming though.
