ok i've been lurking around for the past few days looking for answers in the search box but to no avail so someone please help with some info.
im upgrading to new tires FINALLY and have gone with BFGs for a 17" wheel which gives me an excuse to buy new ones since i currently run 16s. I think i have finally decided on Spyderlock Wheels but i cant find info on their backspacing for the 17" wheel. which leads me to my questions...
1. What is backspacing for spyderlock wheels?



I also plan on buying some form of Dana 60s front and rear (later) and i want for these wheels to be an investment so i dont have to go through the trouble of buying a new set again in a different bolt pattern since i believe (PLEASE correct me if im wrong) Dana 60s come with 5x5.5 bolt pattern (and a couple others 6 lug sizes etc.) everywhere you go?

2. Should i buy my wheels in 5x5.5 bolt pattern and run a wheel spacer adapter so i can run 5x5.5 pattern on my 5x5 until i get my 60s?
3. Would the wheel spacer make it too wide?

If it is possible to get 60s with a 5x5 bolt pattern...
4. Is there a benefit of having a 5x5.5 rather than 5x5, strength wise?

I can answer one question. All spyderlocks are 3.5" of backspacing. Also the reason the D60 come in 5.5 is because of the inner hub is larger, the 5x5 isnt big enough to handle the larger inner hub. Hey i may have answered 2! Yay

 

I've actually been wondering the exact same thing lately.
Looking to go 37" with 17" Beadlocks soon, but still want to be able to use them later when I can afford to go 60 F/R.
Are spacer/adapters the answer?

 

Earth Siege is correct, Spyderlock wheels have 3.5" back spacing. If you know that you're going to run D60's in the future, I'd buy the appropriate bolt pattern for them and run adapters to correct for it on the stock setup. In my mind, I'd rather have the wheel straight on the axle with D60s than run spacers. The D60s are wider than the stock axles anyway, so to keep from being even wider, I'd run the spacers on the stock setup (hope that mad sense). The Spyderlocks will stick out quite a bit, so be ready for that. I'll post a pick of mine for you to see what I'm talking about.
